Despite the lies, misconceptions, and misinformation surrounding the first parish in Gambia, it is crucial that the world knows the truth in order to correct any future misunderstandings. It is a well-known fact that the Celestial Church of Christ was established in Gambia under the divine guidance of Late Superior/Evang Kukoyi approximately 35 years ago. The church was founded outside the confines of family ties and was officially registered with the approval of the Late Rev Pastor AA Bada under the name “CELESTIAL CHURCH OF CHRIST PASTURE PARISH, GAMBIA.”
Following the passing of the Planter, his son AVSE Nicholas Kukoyi took over the administration of the parish as a registered shepherd under the authority of Rev Pastor EMF Oshoffa The Planter, Late Sup/Evang Kukoyi, had four wives during his lifetime and entrusted the parish to AVSE Nicholas Kukoyi been his first son to ensure the fulfilment of God’s primary objectives. The parish was legally registered in accordance with Gambian laws governing occupation and operational rights.
Late Superior Evangelist Kukoyi’s last wife, a Gambian, Mrs Mariama Keita Kukoyi, is attempting to illegally take over the Parish’s possessions. However, she fails to acknowledge that all Church documents are under the name “CELESTIAL CHURCH OF CHRIST PASTURE PARISH, GAMBIA”, which the rightfully document of the property was given to AVSE Nicholas Kukoyi by his father. As the family has no legal rights to the properties, and she lacks any legal documents to claim ownership.

In a shocking turn of events, Mrs Mariama Keita Kukoyi approached the community leader where the Parish is located, claiming that the Parish documents had been misplaced. She requested a new document with her name as the owner. The community leader, unaware of the truth, issued her the document.
When the Parish discovered Mrs. Mariama Keita Kukoyi’s deceitful actions, they confronted the community leader with the original document given secured by Late Superior Evangelist Kukoyi. It was a dramatic revelation that exposed Mrs. Mariama Keita Kukoyi attempts to wrongfully claim ownership of the Parish’s properties.
In an effort to address and streamline the situation, community leaders organized three meetings with all parties involved. The first meeting was held on Tuesday, 8th April 2025, but she didn’t show up for two hours. The second meeting was set for Friday, 10th April 2025, and once again, she failed to attend. Suddenly, Mrs. Mariama Keita Kukoyi arrived at the parish premises with Gambian police officers, claiming that AVSE Nicholas Kukoyi had been threatening her. The presence of the police halted the baptism of new members on that particular day, while an investigation revealed her deceitful intentions, and the matter was dismissed.
On 12th April 2025, Mrs Mariama Keita Kukoyi showed up at the parish premises and posted an eviction notice on the wall, creating panic among the church members. The letter was also sent to all her loyalists. This prompted the executive member to take legal action against her, as she had no authority to do so. A meeting at the local chief’s office on 13th April 2025 resulted in her being asked to submit the necessary documents to AVSE Nicholas Kukoyi. The executive member and some elders of the parish convened on 14th April 2025 and unanimously agreed to officially request the documents from Mrs Mariama Keita Kukoyi. This request was made on 17th April 2025, after three days had passed. A case was then filed in the tribunal court by AVSE Kukoyi, and she was served.
It is important to note that AVSE Nicholas Kukoyi never removed the pictures of SBJ Oshoffa & Jesus Christ from the Church Altar. As a responsible shepherd, he understands the importance of upholding the Church’s basic ordinances and traditions. The truth will prevail in this challenging situation, and justice will be served!
It’s worth noting that AVSE Nicholas is also a British citizen, and he has no personal interest in the church. His effort is to free the church from a greedy and selfish widow after her own personal gain.
