The sudden exodus of Evangelist Paul Makayi popularly known as (Saint Paul) from the Church administrative system has caused quite a stir.
In a letter signed by the Pastor and released through the Church Spokesman/Deputy Head of Administration, Evangelist Paul Makayi was accused of abusing his office by engaging in illegal representation and displaying uncontrolled irregularities in his duties.
It is worth noting that Evangelist Paul Makayi was a member of the Transfer Committee, a committee established by the Pastor. The committee’s purpose was to oversee, recommend and assign clergies to parishes under the Pastor’s jurisdiction. However, the introduction of LANDLORD PARISHES has overshadowed the committee’s responsibilities, as the number of shepherds on the transfer list exceeds the available parishes for clergy transfers.
The affected system has allowed certain individuals to determine the future of Shepherds due to a lack of duty. The Pastor has publicly accused Evangelist Paul Makayi (Saint Paul) of irregularities and a corruptible attitude in his discharge of duty. The press statement includes the following: “I have taken the pains to conduct very thorough and discreet investigations into these allegations and my findings confirm that you are culpable as alleged. Your actions, I must confess amount to a complete betrayal of the trust and confidence that I reposed in you. And indeed, I am most disappointed in you”.
The above statement clearly indicates that the Pastor has initiated an investigation into the allegations against Evangelist Paul Makayi. Furthermore, the Pastor has terminated his appointment as a member of the Transfer Committee. This raises the question:
Will the Church Authority report this matter to the relevant Government Agencies for proper assessment of the findings, as stated under the CAMA Act?
Will the Corporate Affairs Commission invite the Registered Board of Trustees (BOT) using the CAMA Act to seek clarification regarding a confirmed case of corruption by the Pastor, who is also a member of the Board of Trustees?
The situation has raised concerns about the implementation of the CAMA Act, which might summon a registered bot to investigate the matter further.
