He was indeed a great man, a vessel chosen by God to establish a divine ark of salvation. A teacher, a preacher, and a spiritual protector, he labored tirelessly for 39 years as the Pastor-Founder of our Church. Such was the life of the great prophet, SBJ Oshoffa.
In an exclusive interview granted to the third-highest authority in the Church, Most Superior Evangelist J.D. Nunayon, who witnessed the events before, during, and after the incident surrounding the supposed demise of the Pastor-Founder, a remarkable account was shared. The interview, published on the official Facebook page of CCC The Rehoboth Family International, Oke Ado, Ibadan, Oyo State, revealed deep insights.
According to him:
“There is truly no perfect replacement for Papa. I was the service conductor at CCC Ikorodu Parish, Lagos State the last parish he attended. As the sermon was about to begin, Papa arrived alongside Baba Bada, Baba Abassosi, and Baba Ajelekoko. Immediately, the man on the pulpit stepped down and handed over the microphone to Papa.
Papa then announced, ‘Our sermoner today is Supreme (Baba Bada).’ After the sermon, Baba Ajelekoko offered prayers.
Papa later informed the congregation that they would be traveling to Ibadan. It was already past 2 p.m., and personally, I felt it was quite late. However, Papa emphasized that the work of God must continue. As he proceeded out, everyone on the altar followed him but something restrained me, and I remained behind.
After the service, I drove with Odoola On our way, close to Ibadan, we saw a vehicle involved in an accident, but we did not realize it was Papa’s car. We discussed it briefly and continued our journey.
Upon reaching Ibadan, I dropped Baba Odoola at his residence and proceeded home. Not long after, I met three CCC members from Yemetu who informed me about what had happened. Immediately, I drove to Yemetu and from there proceeded to the scene of the accident.
At the scene, I met Baba Adekanmbi, Baba Maforikan, and Baba Sobowale, Baba Otasanya (Ede) Together, we went to the hospital where we were told Papa had been taken. On getting there, we were informed that Papa had already been moved to Lagos.
Without delay, we traveled to Lagos, to Ketu, where we met many gathered. Papa was in his room, seated on his bed, dressed in his leader garment. There were no visible injuries. I saw him myself. His appearance gave me great relief, and I returned to Ibadan that same day.”
The life and legacy of Papa SBJ Oshoffa continue to inspire, instruct, and strengthen the faith of millions. Moments like these do not just tell stories they build conviction. And indeed, there may never be a perfect replacement for Papa…
but his works, his teachings, and the evidence of God’s hand upon his life remain an everlasting testimony.
