Imeko, located in Ogun State and serving as the World Headquarters of the Church, has been a focal point for revival, prayer, and evangelism ever since Pastor Founder Rev SBJ Oshoffa instructed every member to gather in prayer as instructed by the holy spirit session.
The citizens of Imeko have always taken advantage of the large influx of visitors during the Christmas season to showcase their economic growth. Many residents have even vacated their apartments for rent due to the lack of available hotel accommodations in the city. Unfortunately, some members who have made arrangements with apartment owners are now facing complaints about sudden price hikes, with charges increasing by over 200% compared to last year. For example, a single room without a toilet is now being rented out for #50,000 for one week.
The management of hotel reservations in Imeko has recently increased their rates from #150,000 per night to #450,000 per night, with some hotels charging #250,000 per night. The majority of hotel owners in the city are members of Celestial Church of Christ and they attribute this price hike to the rising costs of diesel and hotel maintenance. They have also expressed concerns about the steep increase in the cost of transporting goods and fuel from Abeokuta to Imeko, which has risen by over 200% due to the lack of facilities in the town.
This surge in hotel fees has raised concerns among the members and residents alike, as they prepare for the upcoming convention. It is crucial for stakeholders to address these price increases and ensure that all attendees have access to affordable accommodations during this important event.
It is now imperative for parishes that have acquired acres of land to begin constructing guest homes and vicarages for easier access to their parishioners. Additionally, the Church authority should seek out investors to stimulate investment in the city, which will not only benefit the Church but also help the city thrive. This strategic partnership will enable the Church to fulfill its primary mission effectively.
