According to our Church guidelines, members are required to actively participate in fasting during the Passion week leading up to Easter celebrations. This doctrinal practice was a divine instruction given to the Pastor Founder, Rev. SBJ Oshoffa, whom God chose and blessed. The Church begins the last week of fasting to seek forgiveness of sins and ask for unlimited breakthroughs. it is important for us to reflect on our activities within the Church, especially the Elders who oversee its affairs.
One concerning aspect is our church management, which is facing a troubling silence from elders who work closely with the Pastor in running the church. Many of them, such as M/S/E Ajao, M/S/E Olarinde, M/S/E Akindoyin, and a few others, began their shepherdship journey many years before the emergence of Rev. EMF Oshoffa as Pastor in 2002. These Elders have remained SILENT on many issues surrounding the Church’s development, possibly out of fear of demotion or losing their positions, while some members say it might be the gift of honorarium.
The issue of delayed in Transfer letters, where shepherds face challenges in securing a permanent parish while those with financial resources and connections to the corridors of power enjoy frequent transfers to their preferred parishes, is a significant concern for members who witnessed the leadership of Late Rev SBJ Oshoffa and Late Rev A A Bada. During their tenure, transparency, accountability, and discipline were the guiding principles of their administration.
Mismanagement of finances, disorganized anointment exercises, transfer racketeering, doctrinal practice abuse, lackadaisical attitude towards parish compliance, and a negative response to criticism have become focal points within our Church leadership. Instead of prioritizing genuine reconciliation within the Church, the Church authority seems more focused on approving anointment exercises. Meanwhile, a few Elders who benefited from the grace of the Church’s early days under the Pastor Founder and Late Rev A A Bada have chosen to remain SILENT as the Church faces challenges under their supervision.
It is unfortunate that the current lieutenants around Pastor Rev. EMF Oshoffa were witnesses to the eras of Pastor SBJ Oshoffa and Rev. A A Bada, yet their silence in the Church’s stagnation indicates a troubling direction. It is imperative that the Church authority address these issues promptly and effectively in order to uphold the values and integrity established by our past leaders. Members deserve a church that operates with transparency, accountability, and a commitment to the well-being of all parishioners. Let us work together to ensure that the legacy of Late Rev SBJ Oshoffa and Late Rev A A Bada is honoured and upheld in our Church’s leadership and practices.
