Over the years, many distinguished Celestians have emerged in various sectors of society, especially in politics and public administration.
One of such notable personalities is Evangelist Fayinka, a respected and well-known Celestian whose spiritual journey within the Church dates back several decades. He was widely known around Okesanya Street before joining the late Baba Akapo at CCC Iyanu Oluwa Parish, formerly situated along Isolo Road, Mushin, before the parish eventually moved to its permanent site in Isolo, Lagos State.
Honorary Evangelist Fayinka is not a newcomer in the political terrain. His political career and grassroots experience have earned him recognition within Mushin and beyond. In 2023, he contested for the position of Member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Mushin Federal Constituency II under the platform of the All Progressives Congress. Long before his emergence at the national level, he had already established himself as a dedicated public servant, having served as a Councillor under the defunct Alliance for Democracy in 2004.
Many associates and admirers believe that his years of service within the Church contributed immensely to shaping his leadership qualities. His early involvement as a children’s teacher at his parish in Isolo Road, Mushin during the early 1990s demonstrated his passion for mentorship, service, and community development. These experiences, according to many close observers, laid the foundation for his transition into active politics and public administration.
In addition to his political experience, H/E Fayinka has also served in the administration of Babajide Sanwo-Olu as Senior Special Assistant on Transportation in Lagos State, where he contributed to policies and initiatives within the transportation sector.
Supporters of Evangelist Fayinka strongly believe that his return to the race for the Green Chamber would further strengthen the influence and visibility of Celestians within Nigeria’s political landscape.
