Celestial Church of Christ is founded on divine revelation and structured by a constitution, holds its leadership accountable through clearly defined rules. One of the most sacred organs of its governance is the Pastor in Council (PiC) established under Sections 156 to 163 of the CCC Constitution. The PiC is charged with vital duties: Custodianship of Church Laws and Rules; Maintenance and Interpretation of Doctrine.
The Pastor in Council is to operate for a fixed tenure of two years, renewable once only at the discretion of the Pastor, totaling a maximum of four years. The last Council was inaugurated on 27th February 2021, and by that provision, its tenure lawfully ended on 27th February 2025.
Yet, despite the clear constitutional limit and an existing Federal High Court Order, restraining any further appointments to this Council, the office of the Pastor has not only ignored the legal mandate but proceeded to add new members to the Council. On the 30th May 2025, the Church Spokesman issued a public statement announcing VSE Victor Uadiale as the Chairman of the Pastor in Council Working Committee on Youth Development and Empowerment—a position ratified under the authority of a now expired Council.
This action raises a critical question: Can an expired Pastor in Council ratify an appointment of another expired or unconstitutional member?
The answer, both legally and morally, is a resounding No
Once the tenure of the Pastor in Council expires, the body ceases to exist in its decision-making capacity. Any decision taken thereafter holds no legal weight within the framework of the CCC Constitution, also the Federal High Court explicitly forbade further appointments to the Council. By defying this injunction, the office of the Pastor not only disrespects Church law but openly violates Nigerian civil law.
All appointments made post- 27th February 2025 under the name of the Pastor in Council is null and void.
