Celestial Prerogative Online News has just received confirmation of the unfortunate demise of Superior Evangelist Major General Ekundayo Babakayode Opaleye (Rtd). The former Chairman of the Church Constitution Review Committee peacefully departed this world today on the 18th of November 2023, at his residence in Abekouta, Ogun State.
Prior to his passing, Superior Evangelist Opaleye dedicated himself tirelessly to the unification of the Church. He spearheaded the amendment of the Church Constitution, aiming to accommodate all factions within the Church. Regrettably, while most faction pastors embraced the proposed changes, one faction refused to abide by the amendments.
Furthermore, Superior Evangelist Opaleye, a valued member of CCC Ibara Cathedral in Abekouta played a pivotal role in the reconciliation process between the registered BOT and the Pastor.
The former military governor of the old Ondo State (prior to the establishment of present-day Ekiti State) served from August 1986 to December 1987 during the tenure of Military President General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida.
Moreover, his influential presence as the chairman of the M/S/E Banjo Esteem during the gift presentation to the less privileged on the 21st of October 2023 in Lagos showcased his dedication to philanthropy and compassion for those in need. This event served as a momentous occasion to celebrate the 90th birthday of the highly respected Doyen of CCC Worldwide.
Furthermore, the former military governor’s attendance at the official opening of JDN Radio Station on the 29th of October 2023 in Ibadan, Oyo State further exemplified his commitment to supporting and promoting important initiatives within the Church.
This news comes as a great loss to members of the Church, as Superior Evangelist Opaleye dedication and efforts towards unity and progress will be sorely missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and the entire Church during this difficult time.
