The Media Department of Nigeria Diocese has witnessed a significant development as Superior Evangelist Prophet Samuel Ayowunmi Arole, popularly known as “The Celebrity Prophet,” has officially announced his resignation as the Pastoral Media Director of the Diocese.
In a public statement released on his parish official page ahead of the highly anticipated Pastoral Inauguration Ceremony scheduled for Saturday, 27th June 2026, Prophet Arole disclosed that his decision followed recent developments and misunderstandings within the media department of the Nigeria Diocese International.
According to him, the decision was reached after extensive spiritual consultations with church leaders, members of his immediate family, and the leadership and congregation of CCC Transfiguration Cathedral, Ibadan, where he serves as Shepherd-in-Charge.
Prophet Arole emphasized that his resignation was not the result of pressure, intimidation, weakness, or any form of coercion. Rather, he explained that the move was intended to preserve the image and unity of the Church while allowing him to concentrate fully on his ministerial responsibilities.
“I have decided that I will no longer serve in the capacity of Pastoral Media Director. This decision was not made under duress, weakness, or any external pressure. It is to protect the good image of the Church and to allow me to focus on the ministerial work ahead,” he stated.
The cleric, who described himself as a devoted supporter of the Nigeria Diocese International, reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the Diocese and its leadership. He recalled the contributions of the late Baba Jesse, whom he credited as one of the foundational figures of the Nigeria Diocese movement.
He also used the opportunity to publicly reaffirm his respect, loyalty, and affection for the Pastor and Spiritual Head of the Celestial Church of Christ Worldwide, His Eminence Rt. Rev. Prophet Victor Adekunle Lawal, JP, describing him as both a father and mentor.
According to him, the resignation was partly motivated by a desire to preserve and strengthen the father-son relationship that exists between them.
Despite relinquishing his media responsibilities, Prophet Arole assured members that he remains fully committed to the progress of the Nigeria Diocese International. He pledged continued participation in church activities, meetings, and ceremonies, stressing that he would continue to serve as a shepherd and supporter of the administration.
He further confirmed that CCC Transfiguration Cathedral, Ibadan, would continue to fulfill all financial obligations and returns due to the Nigeria Diocese International, including monthly and harvest remittances.
In a notable display of maturity and sportsmanship, Prophet Arole congratulated whoever would be appointed to succeed him as Media Director, praying for divine wisdom and guidance upon the incoming office holder.
He also expressed profound gratitude to the Pastor and Spiritual Head for the confidence reposed in him during his tenure as Pastoral Media Director.
The resignation comes at a critical period as preparations intensify for the official inauguration of the Pastor and Spiritual Head, making the development one of the most talked-about issues within the Nigeria Diocese International.
While the exact nature of the misunderstandings within the media department was not disclosed, Prophet Arole appealed to members and the public to disregard contrary reports and remain focused on the unity, growth, and progress of the Church.
As reactions continue to trail the announcement, many observers view the resignation as a move aimed at reducing tension, promoting peace, and fostering greater harmony within the Nigeria Diocese International ahead of the historic inauguration ceremony.
