The primary duty of a Shepherd is to disseminate the message of salvation. The Bible speaks of God’s servants who were tasked with preaching the Gospel in ancient times. The ministry of Jesus Christ further emphasized the importance of this assignment, as he closely collaborated with twelve disciples, who in turn spread the Gospel in a ways that surpassed human comprehension.
This same perspective is exemplified by Assistant Venerable Superior Evangelist Sunday Ajayi, who shares a profound historical connection with Celestial Church of Christ Apata Ayeraye Parish in Isolo, Lagos. Ajayi, a Gospel musician turned Shepherd, initiated his evangelism campaign by utilizing music as a powerful tool for communication effectively guiding unbelievers towards the path of salvation.
Under the guidance of the late MSE Otenigbegbe, the pioneer Shepherd of CCC Apata Ayeraye Parish, AVSE Ajayi was instilled with invaluable values and prepared to face the challenges that lay ahead. The recent season of reunification has reconnected the same man who was molded by the late MSE Otenigbegbe thereby enhancing the affairs of the Parish. Little did the Retired Military Officer realize during his mentorship of AVSE Ajayi many years ago that he was nurturing a Shepherd who would excel in various aspects of life.
In a public declaration by the Parochial Committee of the Parish, it was announced that AVSE Ajayi has assumed office to oversee the affairs of the Parish, with the full presence of M/C Otenigbegbe representing the family. This event witnessed a significant display of loyalty from AVSE Ajayi towards the Parish and the family of Late MSE Otenigbegbe.
Accepting this call to duty, AVSE Ajayi expressed gratitude for the role the Parish has played in his shepherding journey. He also extended his appreciation to the Late MSE Otenigbegbe and the Parochial Committee for entrusting the Parish under his spiritual authority.
The new responsibilities assigned to AVSE Ajayi elevated the current shepherd of CCC Canan Cathedral, Chicago USA who has returned to take on the duty of serving God and coordinating the Parish in the USA ensuring the sustainability of God’s mandate on earth. The guidance of the late MSE Otenigbegbe has played a pivotal role in shaping Ajayi’s journey, and his training has extended far beyond the realm of spirituality.
