One of the unique assignments given to children in the Church during the annual Palm Sunday celebration is the symbolic riding of the donkey, reflecting the triumphant entry of our Lord Jesus Christ into Jerusalem. The sacred occasion continues to remain one of the most symbolic ordinances of the Church, reminding members of humility, obedience, and the fulfillment of scripture.
From inception, the International Headquarters of the Church in Nigeria has consistently organized the Palm Sunday procession with dignity, spiritual coordination, and strict adherence to the ordinances of the Church. Traditionally, a male child from the Sunday School is selected to ride the donkey, symbolizing the biblical event when Jesus Christ rode triumphantly into Jerusalem.
History records that Evangelist Solomon Oshoffa was once privileged to ride the donkey during the Palm Sunday celebration after fulfilling all the requirements and expectations of the Sunday School at Ketu International Headquarters. His selection was not based on the fact that he is one of the sons of the Pastor Founder, but rather on his dedication, discipline, attendance, and obedience to the teachings and regulations of the Sunday School department.
Years later, the young boy who once rode the donkey has now become a committed voice of evangelism within the fold of the Church. Just as he once symbolically represented Christ during Palm Sunday, he now constantly carries the microphone to proclaim the message of salvation, peace, and holiness to souls across Nigeria and beyond.
