The annual Adult Harvest Thanksgiving remains one of the significant institutions through which our Church expresses gratitude to God, strengthens fellowship and mobilises members toward greater service in the vineyard of the Lord. In keeping with the doctrine and pastoral order of the Church, as referenced in Section 99 (f), parishes are expected to constitute committees to oversee the affairs of their annual harvest.
At CCC Ijaye Cathedral, Abeokuta, Ogun State, this responsibility has continued to receive serious attention. As one of the historic parishes of Celestial Church of Christ in Nigeria and the second parish in Ogun State, the parish has consistently demonstrated commitment to the teachings, traditions and directives of the Church.
However, beyond the celebration itself, the Progressive Harvest Committee, under the leadership of Special Assistant Venerable Superior Evangelist Oluyemi Adesegun has demonstrated that a harvest committee can leave behind a legacy that extends far beyond the conclusion of an annual thanksgiving.
One of the most remarkable achievements associated with the Progressive Harvest Committee is the successful completion of the Administrative Office project of the parish. It is important to state that the committee did not initiate the project. However, through determination, commitment, collaboration and a strong conviction that the work of God deserves excellence, the committee took up the responsibility of ensuring that the project reached completion.
Today, the completed administrative office represents more than a physical structure. It is an investment in the future of the parish and a facility that will support the administrative affairs of the parish, strengthen coordination and create a more conducive environment for the propagation of the Gospel. This achievement demonstrates an important principle: a successful harvest should not only be measured by the quality of the celebration, but also by the lasting impact it leaves behind.
The Progressive Harvest Committee has shown that leadership within the Church should go beyond organising programmes. It should translate into tangible contributions to the growth and development of the parish. The committee’s efforts also serve as an encouragement to Celestians who have achieved success in their various professional and secular endeavours. Such achievements, when combined with commitment to God’s work, can become powerful instruments for strengthening the Church.
Through collaboration with the various Parochial Committee led by Special Superior Evangelist Idowu Olayinka and the present Parochial Committee led by L/S/E/S SUBOMI ADEOSUN alongside with other Executives, other members of the present parochial Committee, The shepherd, Elders’ Council, various church units and members of the parish, the harvest committee has been able to achieve significant results.
Its record over the past four years places it among the committees that have distinguished themselves through commitment, organisation and measurable contributions to the development of CCC Ijaye Cathedral, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The Progressive Harvest Committee expresses its sincere appreciation to the Shepherd of CCC Ijaye Cathedral Assist. Most Sup. Evang. Johnson Olabode, the Elders’ Council, all church units and the entire membership for their continuous cooperation, prayers, sacrifices and support. The harvest committee recognises that the achievements recorded could not have been accomplished by individuals alone. They are the product of collective commitment and the willingness of members to support the work of God.
As the harvest committee looks toward the future, it is also calling on members to prepare themselves for the responsibilities ahead. The banner of leadership entrusted to the committee by the parish comes with a corresponding responsibility. It requires commitment, sacrifice, unity, cooperation and an unwavering determination to serve God and His Church.
The harvest committee believes that, with the continued support of the Shepherd, elders, church units and members, and above all through the grace of God, every assignment entrusted to it will be fulfilled.
The story of the Progressive Harvest Committee of CCC Ijaye Cathedral is therefore not a story about an annual harvest. It is a story about service beyond celebration, leadership beyond position and a commitment to leaving the Church better than it was found.
As the journey continues, the committee looks forward to contributing even more to the growth, development and spiritual advancement of CCC Ijaye Cathedral, Abeokuta, while ensuring that every achievement ultimately points back to the glory of God.
