A new and defining chapter has begun in the United Kingdom Diocese of our church, one marked by reflection, reconciliation, and a renewed commitment to unity and purposeful leadership.
In recent months, the Pastor has demonstrated a notable shift toward inclusive and responsive leadership. By choosing to align with the collective spirit of members, particularly those whose voices had not always been heard, he has embraced the principles of dialogue, consultation, and negotiation as essential tools for progress. This approach reflects a deeper understanding that sustainable leadership must be rooted in listening, empathy, and shared responsibility.
The decisive journey toward restructuring the UK Diocese began on 26th December 2025, when the Pastor took a bold and unexpected step to address a pressing issue that had significantly divided the church. This intervention was widely received as a turning point, an opportunity to heal divisions and rebuild the legacy laid down by the founding fathers of the church in the United Kingdom.
One of the most impactful outcomes of this intervention was the establishment of a Management Committee. The committee served as a practical model of reconciliation in action, bringing together diverse perspectives and fostering cooperation. Through its efforts, several critical decisions were made, helping to stabilize the diocese and restore confidence among members.
As the tenure of the Management Committee approaches its conclusion in June, expectations naturally began to rise regarding the future leadership of the diocese. This anticipation was addressed when the Pastor announced the appointment of AMSE Bola Olaleye (popularly known as Baba Alagado) as the substantive Head of the UK Diocese, with immediate effect.
Notably, the appointment letter was dated 8th April 2026, though it was made public on 27th April 2026, indicating that the decision had been carefully considered well in advance. The letter clearly outlines the duties and responsibilities entrusted to the new Head of Diocese, signaling a clear direction for the next phase of leadership.
Additionally, VSE Ayo Osho, VSE John Maforakin, and VSE Sobodu have been appointed as Executive Officers of the UK Diocese. The remaining members of the executive team will be determined by the newly appointed leadership, providing an opportunity to build a well-rounded and effective administrative structure.
However, as this new era begins, there are important expectations that must guide both the Pastor and the new Head of Diocese. The Pastor, having taken commendable steps toward unity, must continue on this path by rising above any negative sentiments or personal grievances. Leadership at this level requires a deliberate commitment to peace, impartiality, and emotional discipline. Entertaining or responding to negative feelings could undermine the progress already made, whereas maintaining a spirit of fairness and openness will further strengthen trust and cohesion within the diocese.
For the newly appointed Head of Diocese, the responsibility ahead is both significant and delicate. He is expected to operate a balanced system of leadership, one that ensures clarity in decision-making, transparency in communication, and consistency in administration. A “balance sheet” of leadership, in this context, means carefully weighing actions and decisions to avoid confusion, misinterpretation, or unnecessary conflict.
Furthermore, true unity will require inclusiveness. While building his administration, the new Head of Diocese should not exclude those who were aligned with the previous leadership. Instead, he should recognize the value of experience, promote reconciliation, and foster a sense of belonging among all members. By doing so, he can bridge divides and create a more cohesive and forward-looking leadership structure.
Most importantly, this is a moment to move beyond the past. Dwelling on previous disagreements or divisions will only hinder progress. The focus must now shift fully to the assignment at hand, strengthening the diocese, advancing its mission, and ensuring that its legacy continues to grow in unity and purpose.
This is indeed a defining moment for the CCC United Kingdom Diocese. With intentional leadership, open communication, and a shared commitment to progress, this new era holds the promise of restoration, stability, and lasting growth.
