The Pastor Founder, guided by divine instructions from God established Harvest Thanksgiving Service as a means to express immense gratitude to God for the year and to give to the less privileged during the harvest period. The Pastor diligently monitored the activities of each parish under his supervision, likewise Late Rev Bada, who closely followed the lead of his boss in the spiritual realm.
Celestial Church of Christ has witnessed a shift in the primary objective of harvest with social gatherings now playing a significant role. Members now organize harvest events solely for fun and to also showcase the latest trends in social gatherings.
On the 26th of November 2023, Celestial Church of Christ Festac Cathedral, Agbala Itura, located at 5th Avenue X Close, Festac Town, Lagos, held their harvest. There harvest further highlighted the gap between the traditional teachings of harvest in Celestial Church and the current social trends that members felt should be incorporated into the harvest activities.
It was evident that the Shepherd, Elders Council, Parochial Committee, and Harvest Committee of CCC Festac Cathedral, Agbala Itura Parish lacked the autonomy to control and caution their members’ behavior. The way their members portrayed themselves on social media during their harvest was completely at odds with what Celestial Church of Christ represents.
In order to maintain a respectable image, it is crucial for the church leadership to address this issue and guide their members towards aligning their actions with the values and teachings of Celestial Church of Christ. By doing so, they can ensure that the harvest activities not only serve as a means of expressing gratitude to God but also reflect the true essence of the church.
