The recent debates surrounding the continued stay of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun, who surpassed the retirement age of 60 last September have ignited discussions about conflicting provisions in the Police Act. As Nigerians grapple with the controversy surrounding the Inspector General of Police, attention has now shifted to the tenure of the current Pastor in Council of our Church, set to expire by February 2025.
In a meeting closely observed by Celestial members, the turnout of Council members was disappointingly low. The physical appearance of the Council members clearly reflected the differing opinions within the council. Some members were frustrated by the Council’s failure to address the majority issues in the Church, instead focusing solely on financial contributions.
Members who voiced their concerns outside the meeting expressed their disappointment with the Church authority’s lack of attention to pressing matters such as unapproved altar laying, anointment racketeering, indiscipline, abuse of doctrinal practice, Pastor aides involving in fetish activities and the need for genuine reconciliation. Few members who attended the meeting left with displeasure as the Pastor in Council avoided these crucial issues for the betterment of our Church.
The Council members also jumped away from discussing the completion of their tenure and also failed to set up a transition committee. Instead, the Pastor’s aides who moderate the meeting focused on the money that members have contributed to the project embarked upon by the Council, and issuing threats on Council members who hasn’t pay their fee. The poor turnout at the meeting was met with excuses from members on the Whatsapp platform, all in an attempt to avoid the backward activities of those who continue to mislead the Pastor and prevent him from achieving a remarkable legacy.
During the meeting, members were fed huge lies regarding the court cases at the Federal High Court Ikoyi and the Appeal Court in Ibadan. The real story was hidden from council members, with the agenda being to shift their attention away from discussing reconciliation and towards the fact that a few individuals were making millions of Naira from the court case.
The current Pastor’s tenure on the Council is set to expire by February 2025, but the Church authority has confirmed the Council for another financial obligation instead of focusing on the transition process.
